MEPs return to Brussels on 24 September for a week of committee meetings.
Committee highlights:
Common European Sales Law: Good choice for the consumer?
On 24.09.12, at 15.00, the Committee on the Internal market and Consumer Protection will hold the hearing on 'Common European Sales Law: Good choice for the consumer?'. The hearing, divided into 3 sessions, is intended to allow Members discuss with invited experts the consumer-related and aspects of the Commission's proposal. the Committee is associated in this legislative
procedure with the Committee on Legal Affairs.
Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought 2012
5 nominations for this years' Sakharov Prize for the Freedom of Thought have been received by the Subcommittee on Human Rights Secretariat. The nominees will be presented in a joint meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Development and the Subcommittee on Human Rights on 25.09.12, from 15.00 - 16.30. The meeting will be webstreamed.
Fraud and corruption harming EU financial interests
On 24.09.12, in its second session on corruption and fraud the Special Committee on Organised Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering will focus on organised crime and how it detriments EU funds and financial interests. The Members will debate on measures that the EU should take in preventing these criminal acts and have an exchange of views on the experiences of Members States and the Commission in the fight against misusing EU funds.
Hearing on Tackling the culture of market manipulation On 24.09.12, from 15.00 - 17.30, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs will hold a Public Hearing on "Tackling the culture of market manipulation - Global action post Libor/Euribor". The hearing will be webstreamed.
Is Multilateralism In Crisis?
"Is Multilateralism In Crisis?" is the title of the WTO Public Forum 2012, which will take place in Geneva 24-26.09.12. The European Parliament is going with a six-member delegation to this major event at which governments, NGOs, academics and businesses discuss the latest issues regarding the multilateral trading system in more than 40 seminars organised.
