Motor Insurance

The 5th Motor Insurance Directive aimed to make it easier to get adequate motor insurance for temporary stays in other EU member states or when buying a car abroad and driving it home to the UK.

 

It was agreed in May 2005, published in the Official Journal on 11 June 2005, and came into effect on 11 June 2007.

 

The Motor Insurers' Bureau has guidance on its implementation in the UK.
