You and the Future of Democracy in the EU

Event Start: 13/03/2009 - 10:00am
Event End: 13/03/2009 - 4:00pm

Location : Leeds Civic Hall, Banquet Hall

The global economic recession that is sweeping across the globe calls for global solutions, and the European Parliament could be the forum to discuss what the world’s biggest economic zone might do to find a way out of the current economic meltdown. How can the European Parliament channel the citizens’ demand for political action? What is the connection between what the EP does and the everyday lives of Europeans? What can be done to increase political participation in the next European elections?

These and other timely questions will be discussed at the conference  (110 KB, jpg) with members of the European Parliament, academics, and experts convened by the Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence at the University of Leeds, in conjunction with Leeds City Council and the Europe Direct Centre in Leeds.
