Journalist visits to the European Parliament
The European Parliament welcomes visits from journalists wishing to observe MEPs at work in committee or plenary sessions.
Provided you have a press card or a document confirming that you are employed by a media organisation, you will be able to enter the European Parliament buildings via the press entrance in either Brussels or Strasbourg (you will also need your passport or ID). It is probably worth checking the parliamentary schedule before making such a trip, however, to be sure that the Parliament is in session.
The 2010 schedule can be seen here.
Assistance to journalists attending Parliament
The UK Office has a small budget to help offset some of the travel and hotel costs involved with visiting the European Parliament in Brussels or Strasbourg. A limited number of journalists can benefit each year and you would need to be invited by the UK Office before seeking any reimbursement.

Organised groups of journalists to visit Parliament
Every year, the UK Office of the European Parliament organises two or three groups of journalists to visit the Parliament. In 2007 and 2008 we were focusing on specialist reporters who cover a specific policy area affected by EU decisions; in 2009, our focus shifted to local and regional media.
