MEPs are to vote this week on a European Commission proposal regulating pre-packaged goods.
The European Parliament's Internal Market Committee has amended the proposal so that it specifically allows for Imperial Units to be used in selling milk where this is the national practice. This means your daily 'pinta' will be safe.
Nor is there any threat to pre-packaged sliced bread which is excluded from the directive.
The Committee text is going for adoption by the full Parliament this week.
Note for editors:
The full European Parliament sits this week in Brussels on Wednesday and Thursday.
The vote on the Pre-Packaged Goods Directive (first reading) will take place on Thursday 2 February
