
The National Housing Federation represents 1300 independent, not-for-profit housing associations in England and is the voice for affordable housing. Our members provide two million homes for five million people. We promote and support the work that housing associations do and campaign for better housing and neighbourhoods.
Our Chief Executive, David Orr, is President of CECODHAS, the European Liaison Committee for Social Housing. CECODHAS represents 49 federations who collectively have 39,000 members that provide 22 million homes for 80 million Europeans

Current areas of EU interest:
Social housing providers are key contributors to socially, economically and environmentally sustainable neighbourhoods. We campaign for legislation and funding to be put in place at European level to support the work that they do.
* Climate change:
Our campaigns: 0% VAT on energy-retroffing of existing homes, the use of EU structural funds for refurbishment work to green standards across all EU member states, programmes and legislations in place to tackle fuel poverty.
Legislation/areas of interest: Climate action and renewable energy package and the use of emissions trading scheme (ETS), Third legislative package (liberalisation of energy), VAT directive review, Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD) review.
* Social agenda:
Campaigns: we campaign for the right to housing to be made enforceable and supported by appropriate political and financial measures; a commitment to end homelessness to be adopted across Europe and sufficient means made available to it.
Legislation/areas of interest: social agenda, services of general & economic interests (SGEIs and state aid), homelessness, right to housing.
