Highlights of the week in committee include:-
  • Adoption of 1st reading Refugee Fund [ OEIL ], Return Fund [ OEIL ] and other Justice and Home Affairs programmes (Civil Liberties Cttee)
  • Public hearing on illegal logging with discussion led by Fiona Hall, Lib Dem MEP, North East (Development Cttee - Monday 6 November) [ draft programme ]
  • preparations for hearings of new Commissioners designate from Romania / Bulgaria (Internal Market Cttee, Wednesday 8 November/Thursday 9 November)
  • Sharon Bowles MEP, Lib Dem, South East, leads discussion on purchasing power parities (Economic Cttee)

 

From Tuesday to Thursday, MEPs will meet in their political groups to prepare voting positions ahead of the following week's plenary session of parliament. Highlights of the week (13-16 November) in Strasbourg include:-
  • Services Directive (2nd reading) [ OEIL ]
  • Mercury ban - 1st reading directive [ OEIL ]
  • Pyrotechnics (fireworks) - 1st reading [ OEIL ]
  • TV without frontiers amending directive - committee adoption (Culture Cttee - 13 Nov) [ OEIL ]
