MEPs return to Brussels on Monday 28 August.  Some committees meet on 28-29 August, but for many committees the first meeting will be in the week beginning 11 September.  From 29-31 August, MEPs will be meeting in their political groups to prepare voting positions for the next full session of the Parliament in Strasbourg on 4-7 September.

 
Highlights of the week in committee include:-
  • Television broadcasting directive (including product placement) 1st reading discussion draft report Culture Cttee [ OEIL ]
  • North Sea plaice / sole stocks - adoption report Fisheries Cttee [ OEIL ]
  • Nirj Deva MEP (Cons, South East) - adoption report on EU relations with pacific islands [ Working documents ]
  • Christopher Beazley MEP (Cons, Eastern) - adoption report on including European dimension in school curricula [ OEIL ]
  • Hearing on Transitional Justice - Human Rights sub-committee; experts include International Centre for Transitional Justice [ link to programme ].

 

Highlights of the plenary session in Strasbourg (4-7 Sept) include:-
  • John Bowis MEP (Cons, London) report on Mental Health [ OEIL ]
  • Funding fight against pollution caused by ships (1st reading directive) [ OEIL ].
