Agreement was reached at 2nd reading between the European Parliament and Council

This directive (2005/36/EC) has now been approved and was published in the Official Journal on 30 September 2005 .:

On 20 October 2007, at the end of the transposition period, this Directive will replace fifteen existing Directives in the field of the recognition of professional qualifications. It constitutes the first comprehensive modernisation of the Community system since it was conceived forty years ago."
