MEPs say: Don't throw your batteries in the bin

This directive (2006/66/EC) has been approved and was published in the Official Journal 26 September 2006.

Implementation in the UK will be overseen by DEFRA. It is expected that the Directive will come into force in 2008.

 DEFRA and BERR are both holding a consultation on the implementation of the Directive in the UK.  Deadline for submitting responses is 13 March 2008. 

DEFRA will also be holding public seminars for Q&As on 14th, 20th and 21st February 2008.
