Energy efficiency - European Parliament votes on new EU approach
This directive (2006/32/EC) has now been approved and was published in the Official Journal on 27 April 2006.: Member States have until May 2008 to comply with the provisions of the Directive. However, the first energy efficiency action plan must be submitted no later than 30 June 2007. Implementation in the UK will be overseen by DEFRA. On 29 June DEFRA published the UK's Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2007. DEFRA is currently holding a public consultation on implementation of Article 5 of the Directive. Deadline for submitting responses is 6 March 2008
