  New EU rules for company audits (also known as - 8th Company Law Directive)

The European Parliament and the Council of Ministers reached agreemend at 1st reading on this Directive.
It was published in the Official Journal on 9 June 2006, see: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/JOHtml.do?uri=OJ:L:2006:157:SOM:EN:HTML

Implementation in the UK will be overseen by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Member States have until 29 June 2008 to transpose this Directive into domestic law.
