Air quality - European Parliament sets new targets and pollution limits

This was the European Parliament's first reading in the codecision procedure.

The Council of Ministers reached a political agreement on 23 October 2006 but the text of their Common Position has yet to be formally agreed.

Unless Council accepts all the amendments adopted by the European Parliament at first reading, the proposal will return to the Parliament for a second reading.
