The figure is more or less accurate although it is not clear exactly what savings would be made by basing the Parliament's secretariat solely in Brussels. In any case, the matter is out of the European Parliament's hands, however. It is only through an amendment to the EU treaties that this can be changed, and that needs the unanimous support of all EU Member State governments.
