Double Jeopardy: Woman Refugee, 4th March 2016

 .

According to the U.N. Refugee Agency the number of displaced people across the world has surpassed 50 million for the first time since World War II. Last year news and social media have been dominated by images of the plight of the Syrian refugees and their arrival in Europe. But there is one side of the refugee crisis story that has been talked about rarely: women refugees and the challenges specific to their asylum seeking. What dangers do women refugees face? How can the challenges be met? Should we be doing more?

This year we are marking International Women's Day with a seminar looking at the Europe's refugee crisis from a gender perspective in order to raise awareness of the situation of women refugees in Europe.
