Per Johansson

Per grew up in the west Swedish region of Värmland and studied Law, psychology and German at the University of Göteborg before moving to Germany to complete a post-graduate programme at the European Institute of Saarland University.

Having started his career as a trainee Judge in the Swedish courts he moved to Brussels where he worked as an EU-affairs consultant before joining the European Civil Service. After 5 years in the European Commission and the European Data Protection Supervisor he is delighted to work for the European Parliament in Edinburgh as Head of Office.

Per speaks Swedish, English, German, French, Norwegian and Danish. After office hours you will often find him somewhere on the football pitch, on the ice rink or attending rock concerts. He also enjoys spending time with his family and travelling.


Helen Ross

Helen was born in Inverness, grew up in Morayshire and graduated with a MA in European Studies from Aberdeen University. After graduation, she moved to Brussels to work for the European Trade Union Confederation, but in 2005 was recruited to work in the European Parliament in DG Internal Policies.

Since then she has also gained experience in the European Commission, as well as the European External Action Service and, after more than 10 years in Brussels, was thrilled at the opportunity to return home to Scotland in May 2013 to take up the position of Communications Assistant.

Helen speaks French, German and Spanish and enjoys travelling, photography and yoga.


Harald Proell

Harald was born in the triangle of Austria, Germany and former Czechoslovakia and grew up between Linz and Salzburg in Upper Austria. After Commercial College and several years in the private sector, he was recruited by the European Commission in 1996 shortly after Austria joined the EU. Harald obtained his degree in Economics from FernUniversität Hagen.

He worked in different Commission services in Brussels, Karlsruhe and Luxembourg mostly in the financial domain and took up the position of Communications Assistant in January 2015. He is very eager to support the European Parliament's efforts to disseminate information in Scotland.

Harald speaks German, English, French and Dutch. He enjoys spending time with his family, as well as travelling and outdoor pursuits.


Tom Sedgwick

Tom was born and raised in the town of Rugby in the West Midlands.

After graduating with a BA in History from the University of Hull, he spent 8 months working for a minority rights NGO in Brussels before returning to education to complete a Masters in International Relations at Leiden University in the Netherlands. He has also studied in Wales and Spain.

Outside of work, Tom enjoys going to the cinema, seeing live music and playing the accordion.


Radoslava Stoyanova

Ava, our newest team member, comes from the distant land of roses and yoghurt - Bulgaria. She studied in an all English-speaking High School; did a bit of Cinema studies and then decided to listen to her parents and follow the path of international relations and politics by obtaining a First-Class Honours Degree at the University of Aberdeen in 2015. She has also studied and volunteered at Sciences Po Lyon, France and participated in summer schools in Portugal and Canada.

Ava speaks fluent French and has a good grasp of German, Russian and Arabic. Currently, she is learning Dutch and Spanish and freelancing as a translator. Her outside interests are European Cinema, travelling and DIY carpentry projects.
